Used Rods and Reels For Sale

Ocasionally, I find some nice used rods and examples of traditional tackle that may be of interest.  These are used items and there is often some evidence of wear and tear that I try to document, however, if you are not satisfied, you may return the item, unfished, for a refund.

Used Honey Lamiglas e-glass FL904, 7'6," 2 piece, #4 Line                            Sold

Honey Lamiglas e-glass FL904, 7’6,” #4, 2 pc.  Made in the USA, this is Lamiglas’ vintage e-glass fly blank design for small and medium-sized streams.  A long-time fiberglass fly-rodder’s favorite, the rod features moderate action and light power for trout and panfish.  It comes as close to a light bamboo action as any synthetic rod ever will.  This rod shows only light wear as it was my contribution to the Fiberglass Manifesto’s loaner rod program.  The program was intended to allow folks to try different glass rods, through lawn casting, back in the late 2000s and early teens.  Borrowers were generally experienced fly fishers, who knew how to handle, cast, and respect a rod, so this rod lovingly shows no sign of abuse.

My build has a light UL3 reel seat with rosewood spacer and aluminum fittings, a hand turned, modified cigar grip, and stainless steel guides.  Whippings are candy apple red nylon and sunburst trim.  Rod comes with a custom green flannel bag.  No tube.  SOLD

Repaired Shakespeare Purist Ferrule Free Wonderod 8’6,” 2pc. line weight 11     $55

This rod was built in May, 1970 (the series dates to 1969-74).  This is a heavy duty model for big, hard fighting fish like tarpon, salmon, steelhead, stripers, etc.  I found this with a crushed female ferrule which I repaired with a sleeve, so it is a heavy duty fishing rod, not a collector rod.  It is very nice and clean, however.  Now asking $55, plus shipping.

Intermediate Graphite 8'6" #5 line; custom build.    Sold

I built this rod as a demo and it has only been lawn-cast a few times.   This is a 2 piece rod with custom appointments such as a black aluminum and ebony reel seat, a slim reverse-wells grip, black wraps with chrome metalic thread tipping, and a black hardloy high-riding stripper.  The label says it is a 4 weight, but in my hand it is a #5.  The rod comes with a black custom rod bag and no tube.

Pacific Bay IM7 Rainforest II Graphite 9'0" 4 wt. 2 pc.                    $150 + Shipping

I built this rod for a fishing trip and used it once.  It is in perfect condition, although the label is yellowed from the spar varnished used in wrapping.  The stripper is an upgraded nickle silver/green agate. A great nymphing rod, or a terrific caster, this rod is highly versatile. Rod comes with a custom green flannel bag. Great sale price!
