Jenkins PLG Fiberglass Series

Several years ago, bamboo rod maker, Steve Jenkins, developed a proprietary e-glass rod series he designated PLG.  Although he discontinued them, fiberglass rod aficionados in the know, covet these rods, and I have acquired a limited supply of these 2 piece blanks in 7’3” #4, and 7’6” #5 sizes.

I offer here, for your consideration, the Woronoco Custom Fly Rods version of the Jenkins PLG in 7’6” #5, and 7’3” #4.   These are appointed with some very fine elegantly understated fittings.  The reel seat is a down-locking Lemke LC1 dark nickel finish with a grained reddish-brown hardwood spacer closely matching the color of the blank.  Everyone knows Lemke designs are the ultimate in ruggedly elegant. The grip is a 6” hand-turned modified cigar-one of the oldest and most functional grip choices ever known.

The guides are chromed stainless steel with cinnamon and old gold nylon whippings.  The ferrule is a sturdy and trouble-free tip over butt style that you can set and forget.  Like all Jenkins PLG’s, these rods have a handsome, un-sanded tip and a lightly sanded butt section, showing the spiral ridges produced during the curing process.

PLG’s have a medium fiberglass action that is smooth and progressive; exuding an air of quiet strength with solid performance.  These two rods are built and ready to ship

Each rod comes with a custom rod bag and an aluminum tube, now $350 for the 7'6," and $325 for the 7'3" plus shipping.
