Small Stream Graphite Rods

This year I am reintroducing my graphite small stream and ultralight series offering the moderate-fast action Black Matrix series, 2 piece IM6 blanks by American Tackle.
These rods combine a woven twill graphite wrap at the butt section with a unidirectional graphite tip in a stealthy charcoal gray color. This produces a rod that is moderate-fast action, and a great choice for small streams dry fly and small wet fly/nymphs totally at home with short, overhead, and roll casts. The intermediate IM6 graphite provides casting feedback that approaches that of fiberglass, so casts are progressive, accurate, and smooth.
Matching American Tackle A7 up-locking Reel Seat
I build these rods light with Lemke cap and ring, American Tackle up-locking A7, or UL3 light reel seats. Grips are 5.5” hand-turned specie natural cork cigar grips, and single foot wire guides. However, you can order them in any configuration you might like. Wraps are usually stealth black, or green with a little metallic trim, but you can choose any color you like.
The 6’6” rod is a true #2 weight, and one of my long time favorites. 7’ #4; 7’6” #4; 7’9” #3 are also available. The rods come with a matching dark rod bag and a black, or silver aluminum tube, or custom ABS tube. All for $350.
Ultra-Light Wisp Small Stream Fly Rod
Also this year, I am introducing a 4 piece, 6’0” IM8 graphite rod for #1-2 lines. This is a wisp of a rod that feels too stiff when you give it the wiggle test, but put a line on it and it comes alive.
The Wisp is built light with a cap and ring reel seat, light cork grip, and single foot guides. It is 4 piece, and comes with a custom black ABS tube and rod bag, all for $315.
