7 Piece Graphite Pack Rod                                      $245 + Shipping

Woronoco Custom Fly Rods Label

My warrantied Pack rod is an 8’0”, 4 weight intermediate graphite with a nice moderate mid-flex rod action.  It is 7 piece and the rod breaks down into 16.5” sections.

Anglers Roost Label

This blank was designed by Angler’s Roost Enterprises and rolled to their specifications.  It makes a nice casting rod that, when paired with a DT4F line, casts smoothly and accurately long and short.  Traditionally, pack rod blanks have been so-so casters, but this one breaks the mold.  This rod is so good that you might find you won’t need a back packing trip as an excuse to fish it every day.

Partly Assembled

My pack rod comes with a solid Pacific Bay up-locking rosewood seat that fits any reel, and I combine this with a robust 6.5” reverse half-wells grip that fits comfortably in the hand.  Guides include a 10 mm ceramic stripper and 8 chromed stainless steel snake guides and hook keeper that will not rust.  I provide alignment dots to keep everything straight and place them on the bottom of the rod so you can easily double check that the guides are straight.  I wrap the guides to match the beautiful red mahogany blank with merlot nylon thread and add just a touch of gold thread trim, then I seal everything with low-build urethane epoxy.

The rod comes with a bag and an indestructible black ABS storage tube.  This makes a package that will easily fit in a pack or camping bag.  Dimensions of the tube are: 2 7/8 inch diameter and 18 1/8 inches long (including lid), and the whole thing weighs around a pound.

The price for this field-tested rod, bag, and tube is $245 plus shipping.  A true bargain as pack rods require a great deal of labor with six ferrule wraps, 9 guide wraps, and others.  I warrantee this rod for manufacturing defects for 1 year.  If you are looking for a reasonably priced pack rod that is a great performer, you can’t go wrong with this rod-I guarantee it!
